The Skin We Wear © Kathryn Kmet

For this project I branch from my previous interest in the effects of mundane things to the human body. For this I become the narrator to the stories already written. I am photographing the most significant scars and marks on the body and having the "victim" write the story and effect it has had on their lives. Abstracting the body, hides identity and creates more mystery to the story. The series will be of 10 separate males and females.

I will post the corresponding stories soon.

Printmaking Images © Kathryn Kmet

These images are of my body from previous photo experiments. But these images are for my Digital Printmaking class. I printed these images on matte paper and began to sand and scratch into the print to create textures which will abstract the photograph. Once finished with the manipulation, I scanned the images into photoshop. I decided to create a ghost image and play with the push pull of colors. My next move is to Print my images on a printmaking paper and print dry point designs onto the print for further investigation and abstraction.

Makeup Rash © Kathryn Kmet

This image had become the result of my corset photographs. It relates in a way that I am observing the way our body reacts to what we purposely do to it. This image for instance is of my eye after excessive use of old makeup. It has happened when I was a child and it sprouted up not too long ago. I am interested in how our bodies tell us to stop doing something but we don't usually listen. My other images from this were of my scared feet from my horrible shoes, and the bloody marks on my brow after a good plucking.

I start with myself to understand our culture. I am interested more on the extremes women and men alike do day to day.
